Tuesday , May 15, 2018 - 10:00 PM

February 5, 1951 ~ May 13, 2018

Frank C. Rypien (67) passed away in the early morning of Mother's Day, May 13, 2018, in Layton, UT, four years after being diagnosed with cancer. Frank died as he wished to--at home. Cancer may have taken his body in the end, but it never conquered his fighting spirit.

Frank Rypien was born on February 5, 1951. After receiving his GED, he joined the Navy. He served on both the USS Enterprise and the USS Constellation.

He married Tracy Vance on November 9, 1974. They were married for 22 years.

After his time in the Navy, Frank worked as a machinist by trade. He loved his work. Even after being diagnosed with cancer, he continued to work for another two years. He also loved fixing things and could fix just about anything. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, model airplanes, camping, hunting, fishing, and cars. He was also a great collector of treasures.

He is survived by his daughter, Rachelle (Michael) Walker and his son, Harley (Gerri) Rypien. He is also survived by his wonderful mother, Shirley Rypien and his siblings: Susan Rypien, Joy (Michael) Anderson, and Michael Rypien. Frank had four grandchildren that he was very proud of: Ethan Walker, Nikki Rypien, Addison Walker and Emmerson Walker.

Services will be held Friday, May 18, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the North Park Ward LDS Chapel, 202 West 1675 North in Layton UT. Viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral services. Interment will follow at the Ogden City Cemetery, 1875 Monroe Blvd in Ogden, Utah where Military Honors will be accorded.

In lieu of flowers, donations to help cover final and funeral expenses would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangement entrusted to Provident Funeral Home Ogden, UT.
